A Learning Adventure in Emergence

This four-day adventure delivers embodied learning through a controlled interruption of the linear meter of our lives. Though we work from a source of academic rigour, rather than applying a rigid curriculum we arrive with The Weave—a  methodology that allows us to be led by emergence.

In this space, Loes and Alex facilitate your learning experience in collaboration with the third facilitator: the beautiful surroundings of the more-than-human world in which our methodology is rooted.

 

The Four-Day Arc

Futures Literacy  Laboratory (Expanded Awareness):

On day one we land and facilitate a Futures Literacy Laboratory, allowing the mind to imagine futures to see the present anew. You will experience the three phases of Revealing existing assumptions, Reframing through exploration and Rethinking the present.

 

Theoretical underpinning and sense-making  (Deepened Awareness): 

On day two, a deep dive into the futures literacy framework will help you to make sense of our anticipatory systems and processes, alongside deep-listening practices that recalibrate our sensory awareness of emergence in worlds around and within us. Observing at this register of awareness cultivates another key element of our anticipatory agility, by improving the quality and breadth of the data we bring to sense making.

 

Weaving Futures Literacy and Open Awareness  (Non-Dual Participation): 

Day three is about bringing the sensing and sense making into practice. In small groups you will design a futures literacy intervention, weaving these new skills for sensing and sense making together.  We start responding to uncertainty as a source of opportunity and potential. We practice moving through complexity with greater anticipatory agility to experience the improved fluidity, grace and understanding it brings to shifts we often encounter as urgency.

 

Composting (Regenerative Seed):

Day four is about practicing your new skills and awareness, to become confident to apply them in your day-to-day life. You will guide your fellow participants through a futures literacy intervention. We will address specific challenges you face in the contexts of your work and/or life in general, and explore ways to integrate futures literacy and open awareness into these lived realities., In this way we transition back into the world of doing that is rooted in a strong community of fellow practitioners, to ensure an ongoing practice of responding to urgency by slowing down.

 

You will leave with new capabilities and recalibrated capacities that cultivate your Anticipatory Agility and equip you to respond to urgency by slowing down. These include:

  • Futures Literacy: The capability of utilizing multiple imagined futures as a resource for the present, allowing for fluid navigation through complexity
  • Decolonized Perception: A shift in how you use the future, freeing you from linear expectations and opening you to emergence
  • Open Awarness: A recalibrated sensory awareness for drawing greater insight and understanding from the living texture/complexity of the systems we navigate
  • Anticipatory Agility: The capacity to navigate unfolding complexity with greater awareness, agency, and fluidity
  • Regenerative Capability: An adaptive, interconnected process of awareness and decision-making through which your choices increasingly support the vitality of the systems you operate, inhabit, and depend upon.
